Miniaturized near infrared spectrometer

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS have developed a near-infrared spectrometer. It measures the proportion of water, sugar, starch, fat and proteins in the products and "looks" several centimeters deep into the food.
